In 2018 when the family I was working for no longer needed a nanny. I was burned out and heart broken. It is always hard when you spend 40 + hours a week helping to raise children to all of a sudden not being needed. I have worked for more that 8 families over 22 years and it is something that never gets easier. Every time a family takes you in to their home and trusts you with their most prized possession they immediately become family. Its like giving a piece of your heart away. That year I took the summer off, I took my children swimming every day, to cooking classes at the library in the middle of the afternoon, vacation bible school and even a short vacation, Life was perfect. However once school started that fall I found myself bored and lonely. This is when a relative offered me a job at target. She was working in the HR department and was desperate for staff. Needless to say I found my self stuck. I worked there from November 8th 2018 - March 14 2021. At first I enjoyed it there was no lesson plans or meal prep. No thinking about the job once you were home in the evening. It was simple go in work your shift go home. For the most part I loved the people I worked with and enjoyed having daily adult interactions. The pandemic hit us hard at target, we ended up working over night or early morning for the majority of 2020 and I was on a path to management. However, the more responsibility I had the less I enjoyed the work. It was less simple and far less appreciated. At that time I was going through a divorce and as a single mother of 3 children I needed normal consistent working hours and preferably better pay. At target one week i would work 50+ hours and then the next week I would have 8. You can't pay a mortgage on 8 hours a week. Not to mention working overnight with children at home just wasn't an option. This is when I decided to go back to nannying. I started looking for the perfect family in March of 2021 and within just a few days I found them. I have been with Family #9 since March 14th and have never been happier.
